Marine plywood has long been known as the "Rolls Royce" of plywood, and for good reason. It is a high performing product, suitable when "only the best will do". Constructed using the highest grade veneers (face and core veneers), it is manufactured from selected species based on density, bending strength, impact resistance and surface finishing characteristics. Marine plywood manufactured to AS/NZS 2272 - 2006 has a permanent Type A phenolic bond. Marine Plywood is manufactured using plantation Hoop Pine, a designated marine specie.

Super E0 formaldehyde emission rating
Our Marine products are certified to Super E0 , the lowest emission rating obtainable.
None of the marine species are naturally durable and preservative treatment is required in marine plywood used in many marine environments such as boat hulls, pontoons and marina applications.
All cut edges should therefore be re-treated in situ. As most preservatives affect resorcinol bonding, advice should be sought from adhesive and preservative manufacturers if gluing of preservative treated plywood is intended.
Hoop Pine marine plywood manufactured by Austral Plywoods possesses a stress grade of F17. This superior stress grade is attributable to our premium Hoop Pine resource, the efficient utilisation of that resource, and a commitment to quality manufacture. Marine plywood manufactured to BS1088, as imported into Australia, does not have predictable structural performance.
Marine plywood to AS/NZS 2272 - 2006 has two A grade faces and a Type A bond. In the Australian Standards grading system therefore it has a grading of AA-A bond. There is no second grade marine plywood.
Marine plywood to AS/NZS 2272 - 2006 should be used in hulls of boats and where specified in other marine applications and in aircraft construction. Marine plywood to overseas standards must not be substituted for AS/NZS 2272 - 2006 marine plywood. For assured performance marine plywood should be branded with the "Gangxing Tested" marine plywood stamp.
If used as an interior wall or ceiling lining, we recommend Austral pre-finishing. Marine plywood is not suitable for fully exposed applications.
Take care in free standing applications
Plywood is a natural product that can be affected by changes in ambient weather conditions, possibly causing previously flat sheets to bow. At Austral Plywoods all precautions are taken to ensure flatness at time of dispatch, however once the plywood has left our factory we cannot guarantee sheets to remain flat unless fastened. This is particularly important where free standing kitchen/cabinet doors are concerned.
